It took me awhile to get into this book, and even then, I don't feel I ever truly did.
It's well written, engaging (mostly) and the characters are interesting and wide-ranging. I felt however that too much was happening - there were too many stories in this novel, too many things grabbing at our attention.
I also found the title a little deceptive. The cookbooks were there, but I failed to see how this book was about them. They were merely a prop, and a story left unexplored (probably the most interesting story of the lot).
It's an easy read, but not an entirely fulfilling one.
