Love Letters by Katie Fforde
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
I've read my fair share of chick lit, and I must say this one has all the right ingredients, plus a little diversity.
Our heroine, Laura, is not the common choice (though that can't be said for the love interest - he's stock standard). The setting is good (picturesque coastal Ireland); the secondary characters are entertaining and normal enough not to intrude on the main story (though Monica is feisty enough to deserve her own book); and the literary ties add something new (or though that seems to be a popular chick lit industry at the minute, along with magazines, fashion, anything food-related, and of course a good NYC/Hollywood American romance).
It's honestly nothing new, and it's not exactly riveting. The writing is solid, and it ticks every box for this genre. If chick lit is your thing, I highly recommend you add this to your shelf.
